Since this is a new blog and you guys don’t know me too well, I thought I’d share a few of my favorite things! I don’t want to give a laundry list or bullet points with no explanation, so I’ll post a few pictures and videos and write a bit about each thing and why it’s my favorite! Now, for the fun part…
Favorite Song: Depending on my mood, it rotates between Three Little Birds by Bob Marley and Take It Easy by The Eagles! Both songs are uplifting and help me persevere when I’m having difficult times and enjoy my surroundings when things are going well! My favorite genre of music is Reggae, but I love tons of different styles of music! The only music I really don’t like is hard rock, like screamo and the like. I am sucker for a good beat and good lyrics. You name it: bossa, country, bachata, Hawaiian, KPop, Delta Blues…Take a listen!
Favorite Color: Blue for everything except clothes, then it’s green! I have red hair, so I love wearing green!
Favorite Show: I Love Lucy. This has always been, and will always be my favorite show! I don’t remember the first time I saw it, but I know it was before 2nd grade. At one point I had an I Love Lucy themed room! I love the show, but I developed a serious fangirl crush on Desi Arnaz when I was a kid and it’s never worn off. I could write pages about I Love Lucy and the impact it’s had on my life, but suffice to say it’s been a constant presence in my life and I just love it. Other favorites include: Anthony Bourdain (all series), 2000s Real World, Globe Trekker, Downton Abbey, Deadliest Catch, Rocket Power, Parks & Rec, Sex and the City…
Favorite Place: It’s a tie…I know, I know I should just pick one, but Haleiwa, Hawaii and Assisi, Italy both claim the top spot! I grew up in Mililani, Hawaii and the fondest memories in my life are from Haleiwa. I am definitely an ocean person and any time I’m having a bad day I imagine I’m on the North Shore. One day I’ll go back! Assisi is my favorite because it changed my life, in every sense of the word! I went to Italy for the first time when I was a junior in high school and I instantly felt at home. I was a new culture and language and beautiful beyond measure, but Assisi was so quaint, quiet, rural, peaceful, and spiritual! My fantasy wedding (we’re talking SUPER fantasy) would take place there (with a honeymoon in Haleiwa LOL)! In all seriousness, that town is the reason I chose to pursue my current academic path and career and a main reason I chose to convert to Catholicism.
Favorite Movie: Read this months blog series, A Movie A Day Keeps the Doctor Away, and you’ll find out! 🙂
Favorite Food: My favorite is potatoes! I love all styles! My next favorite is KIMCHI! I grew up in Hawaii and my neighbor, and my mom’s best friend, was Korean. She introduced me to the language, culture, food, and most importantly Korean dramas. While I lived in Hawaii I attended Korean Language and Culture School at Aiea United Methodist Church. I became obsessed with Korean everything, especially the food. Other favorites include: Black-eyed peas, cheese, chicken dressing, pasta, and seafood!
