Review/Synopsis: 9/10 This was the first classic Italian film I saw and the first film I saw staring either Sophia Loren or Marcello Mastroianni! I was shocked it was filmed in 1964-it’s really racy! The only reason I didn’t give it a 10/10 is because the ending is unbelievable, but I loved it in every way! The writing, the cinematography, the costumes, everything. Sophia Loren is freakin’ GORGEOUS. I had never seen her on screen until watching this film and I fell in love immediately. Obviously the chemistry between the two protagonists is great and they made several other films together that also got great reviews (I’ve only seen Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow, but I have Sunflower in my queue). It’s funny, it’s beautiful, it’s tragic. Classic romantic, Italian cinema! This should be the first Italian movie you watch! If you’ve ever heard the expression “you can’t turn a ho into a housewife”, then you have to watch it!
