As is tradition, here are my picks for this year’s Oscars. I’ll save my opinion about the diversity issues for another post. As usual, I’m going to list who I think the Academy will give the award to and who I think should win. I won’t lie and say I was up on my movie watching game this year. I did see a few on demand and a couple in theaters, but unfortunately, I never saw The Revenant so do with that what you will. Just like last year, I plan to live-blog the awards, so keep checking back for results and commentary from yours truly. What are your predictions this year? Are you watching with friends or solo? Print out a ballot or make your picks online!
Anyway, here we go…
Red Carpet
Charlize Theron was best dressed on the red carpet, by far!
Cate Blanchett’s dress was pretty and Kevin Hart is rockin’ that D&G!
Loved Gaga’s pantsuit, but wish it had been made out of a thinner fabric so that it would have been more crisp looking.
Early red carpet coverage was meh, but Michael and Robin did a great job.

Commentary
Excellent opening monologue. This is why Chris Rock is who he is. Addressed the issues, didn’t go on a tirade, brought humor to the situation and said it like it is. HILARIOUS!
My ovaries appreciate Ryan and Russell on the same stage
Anyone else notice some sound issues?
Also, Stacey Dash is awkward…super pretty, but awkward as hell.
Henry Cavill could get it. All of it.
I’ll say it again, Cate Blanchett’s dress is gorgeous.
Tina Fey’s necklace is amazing-
Well, damn…looks like I should have seen Mad Max! It’s cleaning up!
Honestly, even had I made a point to go to the movies more often I wouldn’t have seen Mad Max, so I don’t feel too bad. Not a fan of fantasy/sci-fi…it definitely effed up my chances of winning that Kohl’s gift card though, haha!
Andy Serkis! I never knew his name but I always wondered!
Olivia Munn’s RBF is epic
Gosh, I’m failing again this year.
Question: So, do you consider Latinos representative of people of color? Why or why not?
SN: Does anyone know about the history of Polish immigration to Mexico? I might blog about it if I do some research. Very interesting!
I love The Weeknd
Merp. Minions are irrelevant.
Also, he’s ripping off Ellen’s pizza thing with the Girl Scout cookies.
I saw that wink Mark Ruffalo, you so fine!
AHHHHH! I was just wondering about what happened to the DI from an Officer and a Gentleman the other day! I’m glad he hasn’t died!
I always love the In Memoriam segment…so many talented people…may they rest in peace…great song choice too 😦
BAHAHAHHA WARDEL HAHAHAH this year’s Idina
Don’t like Olivia’s dress but Baron is always so wildly inappropriate but I can’t hate him, too funny
I can honestly say, I never heard anything about Room or just completely tuned it out.
Well, hopefully this wasn’t too painful. My technical predictions were way off, sorry.
Awww, how sweet. I’m so happy for him and glad he finally accomplished his goal. Very neat and what a great director. Cannot wait to see this film! So handsome. Leo ❤
Morgan Freeman, the man, the myth, the legend! Great last presenter!
Woohoo! So glad an independent film won. I loved The Big Short too, but glad this one won and I also saw it, haha. Glad they won. Great movie!
Mark Ruffalo I can’t get enough he is too CUTE!
I’ll ask again, what does diversity mean to you? Gender? Sexuality? Age? Nationality? Language? Race? Drop it in the comments below. Let’s talk about it.
24 awards later…I will see y’all next year! In the mean time, go to the movies and watch INDEPENDENT films!
